Kent vs Gloucestershire Natwest T20 Blast playing 11

Preview

Kent

Time stood still in Kent’s previous match when Bell-Drummond and Joe Denly sent the leather to all over the park. Chasing a massive total of 205 against Surrey, Kent openers started off in fine fashion as they smashed over 160 runs before Bell-Drummond was dismissed. Joe Denly continued on his merry ways and scored his highest individual score.
The only game which Kent has lost so far is against Gloucestershire where there batsmen could not get going. Joe Denly smashed his way to 39, but was dismissed by Benny Howell. Sam Billings tried to rebuild the innings, but lack of partnerships couldn’t take them forward. Their bowling hasn’t fired yet, but the conditions have been cruel for the bowlers so far in the competition. Still there is scope for improvement as far as their bowling is concerned and with the likes of Billings, Denly, and Bell-Drummond in the batting lineup, they can be a force to reckon with.

Gloucesterhsire

Gloucestershire arguably have had the most eventful season so far. Out of the three games they’ve played, no two results have been same with one tie, one win and one game being washed out due to rain. Both batting and bowling did well against Middlesex before Ryan Higgins’ crazy hitting snatched a win out of their hands.
In their last game, the bowlers did well to restrict the opposition to a modest total, but rain didn’t allow their chase to begin. Their only win came against Kent when Phil Mustard guided them home after a brilliant show by their bowlers. Ian Cockbain contibuted with his little cameo which proved to be the support Phil Mustard needed.
Gloucestershire won their previous match against Kent, but doing it again in the alien conditions would be tough. Benny Howell and David Payne have bowled well for them with the ball and Phil Mustard has been excellent with the bat. If they’re able to deliver in the same way they have so far in the competition, Kent might just have hard time once again.

Gloucestershire

Although Kent and Gloucs have different number of wins to their names, they are separated only by the Net Run Rate on the points table. Kent played brilliantly in the last match with Joe Denly leading their cause. Gloucs too have been brilliant by their march has been hampered by rain. With top-order among runs and bowlers doing well, Gloucs look well set to prevail over Kent once again.
Winner: Gloucestershire
