Gloucestershire
Gloucestershire is one of the few teams in this year’s tournament that are featured in a tied game. Their first match of the tournament ended in a tie against Middlesex. They’ve had two occasions where their points have been shared, the same number of wins and one loss. They’ve been away from real action for while now as their previous game, against Somerset, was washed out due to rain. Against Kent, Gloucestershire’s batting failed completely, but their bowling coupled with some reckless batting from Kent helped them defend the lowly total of 139. David Payne and Benny Howell were the chief architects of the win as the duo gave away only 28 runs in their eight overs combined.
Although their batting failed earlier, Ian Cockbain, Michael Klinger, and Benny Howell scored little cameos to guide their total to a respectable total. One rare failure in their batting does not make them a bad team and Glamorgan will be wary of their batting prowess, especially when Gloucs are playing at home.
Glamorgan
Glamorgan have signed master T20 striker David Miller to enhance their power-hitting skills in the middle order. Similar to Gloucestershire’s fate, Glamorgan’s last match as well was affected by rain as well. So far they’ve played six games and have registered wins in only two of them.Their last played match was again Essex where they registered a comfortable victory by five wickets. They were set a humongous target of 219 runs which appeared next to impossible at first. Their batsmen had different ideas with Colin Ingram and Jeff Cooke guiding them home easily.
Whenever Ingram has scored runs, Glamorgan has such a reliability on him. Glamorgan has a reasonably good bowling department which failed to perform the other day, but they’d have to step up in order to continue to state at the top of the table.
